Donate Money to ALD Research

Whether it’s a one-time or recurring gift, you can directly contribute to carefully vetted research projects that align with Cure ALD's mission to find a cure or preventative treatment. We are in the process of reviewing research applications now and will announce the selected projects in Q1.

Cure ALD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Bone Marrow Donor Registry

Bone marrow donation is crucial for X-ALD because it replaces the patient's unhealthy, malfunctioning blood-forming cells with healthy ones from a donor, effectively stopping the disease's progression and preventing further damage to the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system by producing the needed ALD protein, halting inflammation, and reducing toxic fats, if performed early in the cerebral form of ALD.

If you are between the ages of 18-35, joining the registry is the first step in ensuring that you’re a good match.

Donate Umbilical Cord Blood

Umbilical cord blood contains powerful blood stem cells that can treat life-threatening blood cancers and genetic disorders like ALD. Unlike bone marrow transplants, cord blood doesn't require as close a genetic match and is typically available more quickly, making it especially valuable for patients needing urgent treatment. By donating your baby's cord blood, which is normally discarded after birth, you can provide life-saving treatment options for patients who need blood stem cell transplants.

Bank Sibling Cord Blood

Banking sibling cord blood is important for supporting X-ALD because a stem cell transplant can halt the progression of the cerebral form of the disease if performed early. A sibling's cord blood is a potentially life-saving source of stem cells for a child with X-ALD, as it offers the best chance of a genetic match for transplantation.
